Cathode will be doing his thing at Lumen on April 1st alongside Charles Kriel. Below are snippets from his recent press release for his luscious new album – have a read and if you don’t have the album get yourself down to Popolo for a live re-working...

-----------#1: Special Measures

"Special Measures" is the debut album by Cathode, and is out now. all eight
tracks are unreleased (although it does include a new mix of "this just in" from last year's split 7" single on awkward silence) and we hope you'll enjoy listening to it. for local viewers, it's available from RPM in Newcastle; for those further afield, it is distributed by cargo; for mail order, cathode recommends www.smallfish.co.uk or www.boomkat.com

The album is a trim 45 minutes long, just like proper albums used to be. for
those determined to get even more than their money's worth, the CD version
additionally features Rob Kennedy's beautiful video for the cathode song
"sundowning"(watch a quicktime clip and read more here). Rob's video work has featured in the scottish pavillion at the venice bienalle, and he recently had
a solo show at Tate Britain's "art now" room.

You can find soundclips at the cathode website and the expanding records
website. some people have already had kind words to say about the record,
including these:

"Carefully-coiled clicks and cuts are flooded under percussion that even R2D2 would struggle to accurately compute, where the key is always in the melody and those luscious rolling rhythms" - Logo Magazine

"For all those who simply, just simply, thought that electronica couldn’t play
high jinks with your emotions then up pops this simply stunning and beautiful
release. a truly rhyming collision of tip toing trip wired beats and alluring
ambient wantonness, where the ethereal meets the elegiac head on" - Losing
Today Magazine

"First class, I'd say" - John Peel, BBC Radio 1
